About Ben Walker

Ben was born and raised in north-central Illinois, in the hinterlands of Chicago.  From an early age, he had an acute interest in the natural world, and spent many a happy hour collecting fossils and bones, gathering plants, and catching various critters in his native fields and woods.  He has a background in sustainable agriculture and beekeeping, and first became interested in herbal medicine through his fascination with wild edible plants. He studied Western herbalism for two years in Minneapolis, with teachers Lise Wolff and Matthew Wood, before earning his MSTOM from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.

Ben continues to study classical East Asian herbal medicine in the Tian-Zeng lineage with Dr. Arnaud Versluys, and has extensive clinical training in the use of classical formulas, with a particular interest in gastro-intestinal, auto-immune, and neurological disorders.  As he is exploring his new surroundings, you might bump into Ben on a local trout stream, over a crock of fermenting vegetables, or trying not to step on your feet as he learns to contra dance.
